The Mountaindale Home Page: One way to find
the right town to
raise your children in is to build it yourself. That's what
entrepreneurs Ken and Barbara Schmitt are doing. The Schmitts,
who both grew up in Mountaindale,NY have acquired 13 buildings
in the hamlet, including the old post office. They hope to create a
high-tech neo-traditional community on an authentically restored
traditional Main Street.
The Minisink Valley Historical Society celebrated
the 100th
anniversary of its founding in 1989. Its founding members were
leaders in the community whose original goals were to collect and
preserve local history and archaeological materials of various
townships in the counties comprising the Minisink region. These
goals still guide the Society.
The Ulster & Delaware Railroad Historical
Society is a chapter of
the NRHS (National Railway Historical Society), focusing on the
history of the railroads and related social, economic, and cultural
institutions of the Catskill and Hudson Valley regions with special
concentration on the Ulster & Delaware Railroad and its
predecessors.
Railroad Extra has dozens of great articles
on all aspects of

The United Railroad Historical Society of New
Jersey, Inc. (URHS)
is a non-profit educational organization directed at supporting the
preservation of historical railroad equipment and artifacts for the
proposed New Jersey Railroad and Transportation Heritage
Center. The URHS collection presently totals 82 pieces of rolling
stock, including 22 locomotives.
Bergen-Rockland Chapter (N.R.H.S.): Preserving

The Reel Lawn Mower History & Preservation
Project
@ North Farms. This Collection was begun to preserve the hand, horse, and
motor mowers of the 19th and early 20th century. Currently there are over
100 mowers representing 20 manufacturers. The Reel Lawn Mower History Project
was started to assist in the restoration efforts of the older cutting units.
It also works to increase knowledge of their many makers.
