GOD BLESS AMERICA

Have you thanked a VETERAN today?

A special thank you to all of our veterans whom answered the call to duty. Especially those whom paid the ultimate price so that all Americans would remain free.

Lets also remember those who serve and have died for
our great nation today.

My good friend Michael Murray and I attended the WWII 60th anniversary D-Day celebration at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum in Reading, Pa. on Saturday June 5th, 2004. Although it rained nearly the entire time we were there we enjoyed looking at the dozens of WWII era aircraft and ground force equipment. The background music was excellent and many of the participants were dressed in uniforms of the period. Even the enemy were present in uniform. (Mike assured me that they were only acting the part and shooting them was not a good idea!)
We were told that the rain was actually a reenactment of the typical English weather during the war years which, our soldiers experienced almost daily.

Mike and I had the great honor to take a 45 minute ride in the Yankee Air Force
B-17G Flying Fortress named
"Yankee Lady"
This B-17G was built in July of 1945 but never made it into combat. After many years of peace time use by the Coast Guard this B-17 would become one of the stars of "Tora, Tora, Tora". During 1986 the Yankee Air Force purchased this B-17 and gave her the name "Yankee Lady"

This trip was a life long dream realized and now I look forward to my next sortie.
