In the 1920’s ACF built a large number of 40’ wood reefers for Union Refrigerator Transit and the Chicago & North Western. These cars were famous for being the "canvas" on which many of the famous "billboard reefers" were painted in the 1930’s. After the heyday of the billboard era they formed the backbone of North Western Refrigerator Express’s fleet as well as serving in large numbers on the Milwaukee, Green Bay & Western, Nickel Plate, Grand Trunk Western and others. Branchline’s kit features all the detail you’ve come to expect from us and includes two optional styles of roof hatch, separate door latch bars, grab irons, ladders and coupler cut bars along with a fully detailed underbody. In addition to the common schemes we will have available many of the billboard schemes in special edition releases.

Branchline Trains is producing an innitial 12 roadnames of these beautiful cars. Each car comes in two different road numbers which will not be reprinted. There are only 135 of each number produced. The future single car and 3 packs will be different numbers providing 6 different road numbers for each of these cars. These will begin shipping in a few weeks.
