OLD & WEARY CAR SHOP |
Its a warm, bright day in the Summer of 1953 At Upper Liberty trestle
outside of Liberty New York. F3's No. 821 A & B creep cross the trestle
with a Maybrook bound freight. The O&W's Southern Division mainline
is now single tracked and CTC has been installed. Evidence of this is
the empty space on the superstructure where the old second tracks plate
girders once rested. Passenger service is in its last weeks and the end
of the road is only a few years away.
This picture was taken on Bill Schneider's HO layout in Higganum,
Connecticut. The 12x15' double deck layout represents the area between
the upper Liberty trestle and Roscoe. The locos are by Stewart Hobbies
with a number of detail parts added. The freight cars are from Branchline
Trains, Central Hobby Supply (resin), and Proto 2000. The trestle is made
from 3 modified Micro-Engineering kits. Track work is hand laid code 70.
