40' AAR BOXCARS WITH 8' DOORS
THE STANDARD POST-WAR 40' BOXCAR!
After World War II the railroads still had needs for 40’ boxcars. The most common design built after the
war was the 10’-6" interior height car. The earliest cars were built with straight panel roofs but later they
came with diagonal panel roofs. Like the 50’ cars, the 40’ AAR design used a variety of ends and were built by a number of builders. Branchline’s kit features:

• 10 panel riveted sides • 6’, 7' or 8’ door body styles. • 3 styles of ends: 4/4 improved Dreadnaught, "Dartnot",
or Early and Late Dreadnaught. • 2 styles of roofs: Straight panel or Diagonal panel
• Postwar Youngstown or Superior doors. • Separate ladders and grabs. • Detailed under frame.
• Free rolling trucks with metal wheels. • Magnetic knuckle couplers. • Accurate paint and lettering.
